Ashley Louise Brown, BA, MA

Despite her admittedly English-sounding name, Italian blood runs through Ashley’s veins. Born to a British father and an Italian mother, Ashley grew up in the province of Rimini, Emilia-Romagna. Raised in a bilingual family, Ashley has been teaching since the age of 15, when her parents opened a language school in Italy.
She pursued a career in translation and interpreting, graduating with full marks from the prestigious Scuola per Traduttori e Interpreti (Bologna University), specializing in Italian, English, French and Spanish. She further pursued her passion for languages by obtaining an MA in Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies at Heriot Watt University (Edinburgh, Scotland). After her academic career, Ashley honed her teaching skills by obtaining  two prestigious qualifications in teaching English as a foreign language, a CELTA and a DELTA (Cambridge University). Before moving to Toronto, Ashley worked in multilingual settings in Belgium, the UK and Spain. Bolstered by those experiences, Ashley now lives in downtown Toronto and works as a freelance translator, CELTA trainer, IELTS examiner and English- and Italian-language tutor. Seeking a stimulating environment where she can teach Italian and meaningfully interact with students, Ashley enthusiastically joined the team at ScuolaScuola in 2020.
